The genie grants you a wish. What is it?
If a genie suddenly appeared in front of me and said, “You have one wish. Think carefully.”
I know what I wouldn’t ask for.
Not a bigger house.
Not endless money.
Not even a life without problems.
I would ask for something much simpler.
“Give me one ordinary day… with everyone I love, exactly as they were when we were younger.”
I’d wake up to the familiar sounds of home.
The children would be running around, asking a hundred questions. Someone would be calling me from another room. There would be laughter, little arguments, unfinished cups of coffee and the beautiful chaos I once wished would settle down.
Back then, I often thought, “One day, I’ll have more time.”
I didn’t know that those ordinary days were the precious ones.
So, if that genie gave me just 24 hours, I wouldn’t waste a minute trying to make it perfect.
I’d hug a little longer.
Listen a little more.
Laugh at the silly things.
Take fewer pictures and make more memories.
And before the day ended, I’d whisper to everyone:
“Stay a little longer. I wasn’t ready for these days to become memories.”
Maybe that is the wish I’ve carried quietly all along not to change my life, but to have the chance to appreciate it while I was living it.
Some wishes are not about getting something new.
Some are simply about getting one more moment with what we already had. ❤️
