What are five simple exercises to do at home?
Five Simple Exercises That Donβt Need a Gym
There was a time when I thought exercise meant a yoga mat, workout clothes, a proper routineβand at least an hour I could somehow βfindβ in my already busy day.
Then I realised something simple:
My body doesn’t need perfection. It needs movement.
So I started keeping five little exercises in my everyday routine. Nothing complicated. No equipment. Just a few minutes and a willingness to get moving.
πΏ 1. Squats β Sit Without the Chair.

Stand with your feet comfortably apart and slowly bend your knees as if youβre about to sit on a chair. Come back up and repeat.
Squats work your legs and strengthen the muscles you use for all those ordinary things, walking, climbing stairs, getting up and down.
πΈ 2. Wall Push-Ups β A Kinder Push-UpΒ Β

Don’t feel ready for floor push-ups? No problem.
Stand facing a wall, place your palms against it, bend your elbows to bring your body closer, then push yourself back.
Simple, gentle, and surprisingly effective.
βοΈ 3. Marching in Place β Your Living Room Walk

No time for a walk outside?
Just march where you are.
Lift your knees comfortably and swing your arms naturally. Put on your favourite song and suddenly those few minutes don’t feel like exercise at all.
πΌ 4. Calf Raises β Rise and Repeat

Stand behind a chair or near a wall for support. Slowly lift your heels until you’re standing on your toes, then lower them.
Repeat several times.
It’s such a small movement, yet it helps strengthen your lower legs and improves balance.
πΏ 5. Gentle Stretching β Don’t Forget to Breathe.

Finish with a few gentle stretches for your neck, shoulders, arms, back and legs.
No forcing. No bouncing.
Just breathe, stretch comfortably, and give your body a little thank-you for carrying you through another day.
The real secret?
Don’t wait for the βperfect timeβ to exercise.
Five minutes while your tea is brewing.
Ten minutes before your shower.
A few squats while waiting for the microwave.
Some marching during your favourite song.
Small movements, repeated regularly, can become a beautiful habit.
And perhaps that’s what taking care of ourselves really looks like not doing everything perfectly, but doing something consistently.
βYou don’t have to transform your life in a day. Sometimes, you just have to move a little more than yesterday.βΒ»

Haha, love this! π Running on people’s minds is the one workout I never skip. And you’re so right, a simple walk in the garden does wonders. Thanks for the reminder! ππΉπ
