If your pet could talk, what would be the first thing it says?
If my pet could talk, I think I know what he would have said first.
βDonβt be sad. Iβm not really leaving.β
Years ago, when I was expecting my son, my beloved Apso suddenly became very ill. He had been part of our family for years, and watching him grow weaker was heartbreaking.
Then, just before my son was born, he died.
I still remember one little thing about him, a brown mark on his front paw. It was such a tiny detail, but somehow it stayed tucked away in my memory.
And then my son was born.
He had a birthmark on his wrist.
The same shade of brown.
I stared at it for the longest time.
Of course, there may be a perfectly ordinary explanation for it. Birthmarks happen. Coincidences happen.
But a mother’s heart doesn’t always speak the language of logic.
A tiny, impossible thought found its way into my heart:
What if he has come back?
What if my dear pet couldn’t stay as my four-legged companion, but somehow found his way back to me in another form?
How I wished he could talk.
I would have asked him, βIs it really you?β
And perhaps he would have looked at me with those familiar eyes and said,
βI told you I wasn’t leaving. I just changed the way I came back.β
Some memories don’t need proof.
Sometimes, a little brown mark is enough to make the heart believe in miracles.
“Maybe he didnβt leave meβ¦ he just changed the way he came back.β β€οΈπΎ
