    “The Night with Fifty Shades of Grey and I Broke Up (A Comedy in Five Chapters)”

    Have you ever regretted reading a book — which one and why?

    The Book I Wish I Had Never Opened

    Have you ever read a book simply because everyone else was talking about it?

    I have.

    For me, that book was Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James.

    The title was everywhere. People were discussing it, recommending it, whispering about it and naturally, my curiosity got the better of me.

    So I picked it up.

    And then I waited.

    And waited.

    And waited for that magical moment when I would finally understand what all the fuss was about. 😄

    Instead, I found myself reading with the enthusiasm of someone waiting at a railway station for a train that had been cancelled.

    At one point, I seriously considered checking whether I was reading the right book.

    “Maybe the interesting part starts on the next page.”

    Next page.

    Next chapter.

    Still waiting.

    By the time I finished, my biggest romantic relationship was with the thought of putting the book down. 😂

    What made it even funnier was that I had spent so much time reading it that abandoning it halfway felt impossible. You know that strange reader’s guilt?

    “I’ve already come this far. I might as well finish.”

    So I did.

    Would I read it again?

    Absolutely not.

    And there was another much-loved book that didn’t quite win me over. “The Fault in Our Stars”. Beautifully written, emotional, and loved by so many… but somehow, it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

    I suppose that’s the wonderful thing about books.

    A book can be a masterpiece to one person and a struggle to another.

    We don’t have to love a book just because everyone else does.

    Sometimes, the most honest book review is simply:

    “Sorry, everyone. I tried. It just wasn’t for me.” 😄📚

    4. Reading with the enthusiasm of someone waiting for a cancelled train is a very accurate description of a book you’ve stopped enjoying but won’t put down. The hype trap is real — the curiosity is usually about the conversation everyone else is having, not the book itself, and that’s rarely a good reason to keep turning pages.

    5. So basically, one book gave you an emotional crisis (The Fault in Our Stars) and the other gave you an existential crisis (Fifty Shades). An absolute roller coaster of an experience! Glad you made it out alive to write this hilarious review.

    6. I supremely regret having alluded to the creator looking at the reflection in the creation but missed the loaded title of the book held therein 🌹 I happened to notice now….
