If the salary was the same, what job would you be doing right now and why?
When I thought about this question, I realised something funny.
I have spent most of my life teaching students Biochemistry. It has been my profession, but in many ways, it has also been a part of who I am.
So, if the salary were exactly the same, would I really choose another job?
Perhaps I would still teach, but differently.
I imagine a small, peaceful room filled with books and green plants. No school bell. No rushing from one period to another. No pile of notebooks waiting to be checked.
Just a few curious minds sitting around a table, asking questions, sharing ideas, discovering something new.
And perhaps, in the corner, there would be a little bonsai garden too. 🌱
Because after years of teaching children what is written in books, I think I would love to spend more time teaching the quieter lessons, the ones about patience, kindness, curiosity, failure, and beginning again.
Maybe that is what I would choose if money didn’t matter.
Not a completely different life.
Just a gentler version of the one I have already lived.
And perhaps that is the most beautiful answer of all.
“Sometimes we don’t want a different life. We simply want to live the life we have a little more gently.” ❤️
