If your future self could send you one sentence, what do you hope it would say?
βPerhaps the life you keep calling ordinary is the life your future self will miss.β
We spend a surprising amount of our lives waiting.
Waiting for the weekend.
For the holiday.
For the promotion.
For the children to grow up.
For things to finally βsettle down.β
We imagine that someday, life will become more interesting.
But what if we have it backwards?
What if one day, years from now, you would give anything to return to this very ordinary Tuesday?
The morning rush. A familiar cup of tea. Someone is calling your name from another room. The little complaints. The work you sometimes wish you could escape. The people whose presence feels so normal that you hardly notice it.
You might miss the noise.
You might miss the mess.
You might even miss the things that annoy you today.
Because life has a strange habit of turning ordinary moments into precious memories but only after they are gone.
Perhaps our future self isn’t waiting for us to achieve something extraordinary.
Perhaps it is simply hoping we noticed what we already had.
βOne day, you will look back and realise that the life you called ordinary was someoneβs idea of a beautiful life.β
So today, before rushing towards the next chapter, maybe stay on this page for a little longer.
Look around.
This ordinary life might be the one you miss most.

Very interesting and insightful. We often want what we do not have rather than value what we already have. I enjoyed the post. Thanks

Perhaps our future self isnβt waiting for us to achieve something extraordinary. Perhaps it is simply hoping we noticed what we already had. That line is incredibly powerful adn it completely flips how we look at daily boredom or routine.
