The Train I Missed Changed My Life

Do you think everything happens for a reason?

The road you didn’t choose may be the one that quietly chooses you.”

“Everything happens for a reason.”

I’ve heard those words hundreds of times. Most of the time, they sounded like something people say when they don’t know what else to say.

Then one ordinary Tuesday changed my mind.

Years ago, I was rushing to catch a train. I had planned every minute perfectly, until I stopped to help an elderly man whose grocery bag had torn open. Apples rolled across the platform, and together we chased them before they disappeared under people’s feet.

By the time I reached my platform, the train doors had closed.

I was frustrated. Angry, even. I blamed the delay, the crowd, and myself for stopping.

With nothing else to do, I sat on a bench and waited for the next train.

A woman sitting beside me noticed the book in my hands. She smiled and asked, “Is it worth reading?”

That simple question turned into a conversation that lasted the entire journey. We exchanged ideas about books, work, and life. Months later, she introduced me to someone who eventually became my business partner.

The project we built together changed my career in ways I could never have imagined.

Sometimes I wonder…

What if I hadn’t stopped for those apples?

Would I have caught the train and missed the opportunity that truly mattered?

I still don’t believe every painful event has an easy explanation. Life is far more complicated than that.

But I do believe this: not every detour is a mistake. Some delays quietly redirect us toward people, places, and possibilities we never planned for.ย ย ย ย ย ย

But, Whatever is written in fate will happen, or  it just happens unknowingly, just like that
Whatever happened, is strange…

So the next time life closes a door a little sooner than you expected, don’t rush to call it bad luck.

It might just be the beginning of a story you haven’t read yet.
