Reenaβs: Xploration Challenge

days begin
before we are ready
minds already running
through things
that hasn’t happened
hours disappear
between must do
and should have done
we count the steps
measure the distance
celebrate the movement
but somewhere
between here
and there
we forget
to ask
where
are we
going?
From Reena : Choose one or more from the following phrases to build your piece.
The mirage of momentum
The noise of necessary things
The hypnotism of hurried living
The cage of constant doing
The autopilot of Urgency

I especially resonate with these lines
minds already running
through things
that hasnβt happened
I can’t sleep till the next day’s schedule is mentally chalked out.
Thanks for joining in!

Thank you so much Reena π Those lines are so relatable, and I completely understand the habit of planning tomorrow before you can switch off. Our minds really do love to run ahead of us.It was a pleasure joining in, and I truly enjoyed this creative experiment. Thanks for the warm welcome π€

your poem tells a all too known story, Meeta … the rush, the haste, sometimes planning with not knowing…and in all this we really do forget to ask…
where
are we
going?
Lol, funny isn’t – how when we finally do pause a bit, time has passed us by …
beautifully expressed…π€

Thank you so much Destiny π€ You’ve captured it so well, we’re always rushing, and rarely stop to ask where we’re headed. Your words add so much to the poem.
A small request: Wizefool hasn’t picked up the baton yet, so the chain is waiting. Could you suggest someone who might enjoy carrying this poem relay forward? π

my apologies, Meeta … i had linked up to your post for the follow up chapter of the story.
This is a weekly prompt from Reena that I wrote too… anyone can participate in this. It doesn’t need to be passed on…
…but I’m glad you did … we got to see the poet in you too…π

A gorgeous poem, Reena! ‘The autopilot of urgency’ is such a real trap, and your words are a wonderful reminder to slow down and catch our breath before the day carries us away. Beautifully written!

Thank you so much π that means a lot. π I’m so glad “the autopilot of urgency” resonated with you. It’s something I think we all fall into without noticing. Knowing the poem gave you a moment to pause and breathe makes my day. Thanks for reading and for such a kind comment. πΏ

Agreed — I say if it’s an emergency, I would call 911 or go to the Emergency Department. Everything else can wait.

Gwych! (Great! in Welsh) Methinks some people focus so much on creating a busy signal they forget to slow down, reach out to a friend and meet up for a cuppa. It’s great to keep busy and fight boredom however a balance is needed.

So true jen. Finding that sweet spot between staying active and making time for a good chat over tea is everything. A cuppa with a friend makes all the difference. β
