My Personal Goals Are Tired of Being Ignored. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Do you set personal goals for yourself?

Every year, I set personal goals with the confidence of a woman who has absolutely no idea how busy she’s going to be.

โ€œThis year,โ€ I announce proudly, โ€œI’m going to exercise daily, read more books, learn something new, eat healthy, and make time for myself.โ€

My goals are impressed. They have no idea what’s coming.

Then the day begins.

Work needs attention. The family needs something. A task I thought would take five minutes somehow develops into a full-length feature film.

By evening, I’ve accomplished so much that I should be congratulated. Unfortunately, none of it was on my personal-goals list.

My exercise? Postponed.

My reading? Pending.

My plans for learning something new..???

I’ve learnt that a day can contain approximately 47 hours of work and still not be enough!

And making time for myself? Well, I did think about myself while stirring the vegetables. Does that count as meditation? ๐Ÿ˜‚

The funniest part is that I never actually abandon my goals. I simply keep rescheduling them.

โ€œTomorrow, definitely.โ€

Tomorrow arrives, takes one look at my schedule, and quietly leaves.

Sometimes I wonder whether my goals are beginning to lose faith in me. I can almost hear them whispering, โ€œThere she goes again. Big promises, no appointments available.โ€

But jokes apart, I’ve realised something important.

When you’re working, looking after your family, and managing the thousand little responsibilities of everyday life, personal goals can easily slip to the bottom of the list.

Yet, we need dreams and little challenges of our own too. Something that makes us feel excited, something we do simply because it makes us happy.

So now, instead of planning to transform my entire life by Monday morning, I’m trying smaller goals. A little reading, some exercise, learning something new, and occasionally doing something just for myself.

I’m not aiming to become a superwoman. Frankly, her job description sounds exhausting, and I suspect she doesn’t get paid overtime.

I simply want to become a happier version of myself, one small step at a time.

And if I miss a day, I’ll begin again.

After all, my goals and I are in a long-term relationship. There may be misunderstandings, frequent postponements, and occasional silent treatment, but we’re not breaking up. ๐Ÿ˜‚โค๏ธ

  1. I think many of us can relate to this! We start the year with big plans, and life has other ideas. I love your reminder that even small steps count. Wishing you many happy moments doing the things you enjoy, alongside everything else life brings.
