Have you ever liked a villain more than the hero? Who and why?
Have you ever watched a movie and realised, rather embarrassingly, that you were waiting for the villain to appear?
I have.
The hero usually arrives with perfect hair, a clean conscience and a mission to save the world. Everyone claps.
And then comes the villain.
Dark clothes. Sharp dialogue. A complicated past. A little mystery.
And suddenly… I’m interested.
My favourite? Miranda Priestly from “The Devil Wears Prada.“
Yes, I know. She is intimidating. She can freeze a room with one raised eyebrow, and her famous “cerulean” speech could make anyone question every piece of clothing in their wardrobe.
But what fascinated me was that she wasn’t simply evil. She was powerful, fiercely ambitious and unbelievably good at what she did. Beneath the icy exterior was a woman who had built an empire in a world where being soft was probably considered a professional weakness.
I didn’t necessarily want to be her.
I just couldn’t stop watching her.
Maybe that’s the strange magic of a good villain. Heroes make us wish to be better.
Villains make us curious about the parts of ourselves we don’t usually talk about.
And sometimes, if we’re honest, the villain gets the best lines.
Sorry, heroes. 😄

One response to “I’m Sorry, Hero… I Was Watching the Villain”
YES! OH YES! That famous “cerulean” speech had me doubt my entire wardrobe!! This… DESPITE being from the fashion industry myself!! 🙈😂. And like you say, if you are soft in this industry what are you even doing here, darlin’!! She had her reasons… Even if she didn’t I would still root for her!! 😂😭 Played to perfect by Meryl Streep, Miranda is a Villain who will have a hall of fame star in the echelons of Villaindom! Hail Miranda!! 😭😂😭😭
