What app eats up most of your screen time โ and do you even feel bad about it?
If my phone could talk, it would probably whisper one word: YouTube.
I open it to learn one thing ,how to grow tomatoes, bake better bread, or understand a science mystery. Twenty minutes later, I’m watching a tiny owl being rescued or a chef making pasta from scratch. Somehow, it all feels connected.
Do I feel bad about it?
Not really.
Screen time isn’t the real problem. Mindless screen time is.
Some apps leave us feeling drained. Others leave us with a new idea, a new skill, or simply a smile after a long day. If an app helps you learn, laugh, create, or connect with people you care about, maybe it’s not time wasted after all.
Of course, balance matters. Every now and then, I put the phone down and step outside. The world still has the best notifications birds singing, fresh air, and conversations that don’t need Wi-Fi.
So yes, YouTube probably wins the screen-time race on my phone.
And I’m perfectly okay with that.

You have expressed it so beautifully. Yes, we need balance in whatever we do.

We learn so much, so quickly when we are shoen how to do it. I’ll even look it up on YouTube if there’s something I don’t understand about the car, washing machine or packet of tomato plant feed.
