The Excuse That Made Me Laugh… Then Think

What is the best excuse you have heard lately?

“I couldn’t go for my morning walk because… my fitness tracker wasn’t charged.”

For a second, I didn’t know whether to laugh or agree.

Think about it.

The ability to walk had nothing to do with the battery level of a tiny gadget. The sun was up. The roads were waiting. The shoes were by the door. The only thing missing was the decision to step outside.

Yet somehow, a dead battery became a perfectly acceptable reason to skip an hour of exercise.

It made me smile because it reminded me how easily we let small inconveniences become big obstacles.

We tell ourselves we’ll read that book once we have more time.

We’ll call an old friend when life slows down.

We’ll start writing when inspiration strikes.

We’ll travel when everything is perfectly planned.

The excuse changes, but the result is always the same ,another day slips by.

What amused me most about the fitness tracker excuse was the irony. The watch wasn’t going to get healthier by counting steps. The person was.

Technology is wonderful. It motivates us, tracks our progress, and reminds us of our goals. But sometimes, we accidentally hand over our motivation to a device.

That little conversation stayed with me.

Now, whenever I catch myself waiting for “perfect conditions,” I remember the uncharged fitness tracker and smile.

Some of life’s best moments don’t need perfect timing, expensive equipment, or even a fully charged battery.

They simply need us to begin.

A Thought to Leave You With

“The best way to defeat an excuse is to take one small step before your mind creates another one.”

But, we are humans 🤒.we know the Art of making excuses.
